Shine and shimmer: Learn how to add a little glitz to your art quilts using foils, metals, copper shim, metallic paints and glass beads. Explore ways to produce luminescence using angelina fibres, shiva paint sticks, organzas and other shimmery fibres. Students will complete a wall hanging that uses a very simple theme, but b adding embellishments, will produce a unique piece o art.

Our first  and third samples show how copper sheets can be used to  create the interesting effects in art quilts.  In our second sample, nylon scarves were needle felted onto a piece o hand made paper. Gold details added b heat setting embossing powders with glue. W then added  the  glass beads with a clear drying fabric glue.

Our final sample is taken from the home page.  Here, Susan has  cut strips of metal shim and woven them together. This sample also features glass beads, couched yarns and free motion stitching.
