Quilting with Jelly Rolls
Jelly Rolls by moda - Basic Grey. Our sample used two of these lovely rolls to create this 62" X 66" quilt. Wendy stitched the stripes of each roll into two different stratas. She randomly selected the fabrics for each strata, using all of the strips available to create two strata pieces. It is important to make them the same size ( ie the same number of strips) . These strata were then cut into 7", 3 1/3" and 2 1/2" strips. These new strips were then randomly chosen and stitched side by side to create the finished quilt. (some strips were rotated so that the top fabric was now on the bottom, thus increasing the variety of strips to be stitched back together)
Our second blog entry for October shows detailed steps for the assembly of this quilt.
Our second image shows the rows of stitching placed 1" apart. These rows create a V point in the quilt's center.
The last image shows the detail of the binding. Tiny pieces of solid cotton and a subtle back and white fabric were selected to finish this quilt
